Breakout Sessions

During registration, you will be asked to select two breakout topics from the four topics shown below. Each session is discussion based and you will be expected to participate and share your knowledge and experience under the guidance of a trained facilitator.

TOPIC A: PLANNING YOUR YEAR

Relevance: Club presidents are responsible for leading the process of planning, implementing, and continually evaluating the club’s goals while also motivating their respective members to accomplish those goals.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify your club’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Set goals to capitalize on your club strengths and address your club’s weaknesses.
  • Create an action plan for each goal.
  • Identify strategies to effectively delegate, delegate, delegate

TOPIC B: LEADING ROTARIANS AND RUNNING YOUR CLUB

Relevance: Club presidents are responsible for leading their club, effectively communicating with clubmembership, motivating members to help attain goals of the club and all operational aspects of the club.These activities include weekly meetings, quarterly assemblies, board meetings, preparing for the district governor’s visit as well as visits from their assistant governor and oversight of all other projects and activities of the club.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify tips for running effective meetings.
  • Identify skills needed to serve as an effective club leader and communicator.
  • Learn how to successfully host your governor’s and assistant governor’s visits.
  • Identify strategies for implementing effective techniques for oversight of all club operations and activities.
  • Anticipate potential challenges in leading club members.

TOPIC C: MANAGING CHANGE

Relevance: Club presidents are responsible for ensuring their club adapts effectively to changing conditions in their community and around the world.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand building coalition within your club and community
  • Identify areas of concern that need to be addressed
  • Learn to create a committee and action plan
  • Know where to find

TOPIC D: RESOURCES FOR SUCCESS

Relevance: Club presidents are responsible for ensuring their club has access to the best information andresources regarding all Rotary activities. Come prepared to share 2 information resources!

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify internet locations for Rotary and Rotary Foundation information and forms
  • Review of Rotary and Rotary Foundation structure to identify human resources
  • Discussion of other sources of information and resources including the Learning Center and Rotary Leadership Institute

ONLINE SESSIONS

Additional sessions will be offered online via Zoom during the weeks leading up to PETS. These sessions are optional. Each session is discussion based and you will be expected to participate and share your knowledge and experience under the guidance of a trained facilitator. The four sessions offered onsite will also be offered online, so if you are unable to attend a session during PETS, you may attend online. The same curriculum will be covered. Zoom links and materials will be emailed to everyone who registers for PETS.

Polio Plus

A discussion of where we are in our fight to eradicate Polio. Q&A time included.

Rotary Club Central

Review of how to log in and what RCC can do for you and your club.

Interact

Discussion of what Interact is and can be. If you have an Interact club, come prepared to share the experience.

Finding Projects

A discussion of how to find partners to help with your project internationally and locally. Come prepared to share your experiences.

Foundation Giving

Review of how to give money to the Foundation, what your choices are, and recognition levels. Question & Answer period included.

DACDB

A review of how to log in and what DACDB (Memory Minder) can do for you and your club management. Question & Answer period included. This is the program used by 400 districts around the world, as well as Peachstate PETS and Rotary Leadership Institute

Rotary Youth Leadership Award

Discussion of the RYLA program including Q&A. Be prepared to share your experience with the students and the program.

Club Structure Choices

A Review of club structures including Satellite clubs, Passport clubs, and many more. Find out how your club can grow to serve your community more effectively.

Foundation Getting

A review of the Foundation grant programs, including DDF, Global Grants, Scholarships, and Peace Fellow programs. This is a high-level review! For details, especially about District Grants, contact your District Foundation Chair.

Risky Business – Insurance

Review of the Rotary International Insurance program that covers your club and your events, including how to apply. A must for keeping your club safe!

Rotary Youth Exchange

Discussion of the Rotary Youth Exchange program. If you have hosted a student, come prepared to share the experience.
